The kids korner is a place where we
will be presenting a series of experiments, research, and other interesting stuff. The
first is from our friend in Rome, 12 year old Antonia.
Antos first offering is an
experiment involving a pair of leaves. This is something that Marcel recommended we all do
to discover the incredible abilities each of us possess. The work involves having two
fleshy type green leaves, e.g. Philodendron, avocado, begonia, etc. Antonia chose lemon
leaves as they were growing in her back yard. Lets see what she did with them and
what happened. AIM: To see if plants
absorb love in their life and how love affects a leaf separated from the plant.
WHAT YOU NEED:
1. 2 pieces of paper (blank white)
2. 2 lemon leaves
3. a camera (to keep a visual record)
4. your love
METHOD:
1. Put each lemon leaf on a sheet of paper.
2. Number each sheet, choosing which one will be
ignored and which one you will love. E.g. #1 is ignored (the control) and #2 will be loved
each day.
3. Put the paper with the leaf you will ignore
somewhere out of the way so that you wont accidentally pay loving attention to it by
having it too close to the leaf you are actively working with.
4. Put the leaf you are going to love somewhere where
you will see it everyday.
5. In the morning and at night send the feeling I
love you and I want you to live to the leaf you are going to love.
6. Do this each day and take a photograph of each leaf
daily.
OBSERVATIONS:
The leaf that was ignored curled up totally while the
leaf that was loved had only tiny curls at the tip
SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED (Conclusions):
I found out a lot about what effect love has on
plants. Heres a summary:
I realized that the leaf absorbed lots of love,
but you mustnt send eternal love just one time and think thats all you have to
do. The leaf wants to know that its loved each day, even though when I left for a
weekend it stayed the same. It holds in the love but it might drain away if youre
not thinking nice things about it.
The ignored leaf completely
curled up while the loved leaf has tiny curls only on. the tip.
RUMI DAS COMMENTS:
This is an experiment Ive done many
times and Im always amazed. It is possible to keep the leaf alive for quite
prolonged periods of time as long as it is receiving love. What does this say about
us?...about our ability to affect our world...about our ability to affect ourselves? What
would happen to us if we were to have loving thoughts about ourselves each morning and
evening? As Antonia remarked about the leaf, The leaf wants to know that it is loved
each day. Are we so different? Perhaps if, each day, we chose to consciously love
and allowed ourselves to be loved we might understand what it means to love others as we
love ourselves. To love and be loved determines the quality of our life and just maybe the
duration as well.
Thanks Anto!
